Mercedes will not Start

Asked by giantpike May 19, 2022 at 04:16 PM about the 2007 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class SL 550

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2007 Mercedes SL550, will not start.  I disconnected both batteries when I put in a new Secondary Air Pump.  After I reconnected the batteries, I have power to everything except the starter.  My Key won't engage the starter and my Keyless button won't either.  I purchased a new consumer battery and installed it.  I have ordered a new Starter Battery, which should arrive within a week.  When I run my icarsoft MBII scanner, I get a FAULT Communication with the ECU on the SBC Sensotronic Brake Control and the same Commo Fault with my KEYLESS GO.  I also get a engine/throttle body fault....saying voltage is too low.  Do you think my problems will go away when the new starter battery is installed?  (I have checked every fuse in the car and they all checked out OK! )  My car is currently stuck in my garage and I am over fifty miles from a Mercedes dealer.  Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Gary

The pump's at the front of the engine, under a small removable shroud, and there's not much involved in the change: just one electrical plug. None of this should affect the starting..... but from your description, it sounds like you either accidentally pulled a wire or blew a fuse.
