i 've a 97 tahoe 1500 5.7 Vortex speedodomer stop working also rpm gauge and tranny want shift down it stays in 3rd or overdrive is making a skipping sound at times what's up ? drives fine no slipping in any gear

drove to work about 35 miles it sat for 8 hrs i went out started it and started to pull off notice it being sluggish then i notice that my speedodomer had stop working and RPM  gauge too and the marker on the dash for gear selection was also out  after a bit i relized it was not downshifting at low or high speeds i drove it home and back to work the next day it will go in d1 ,d2 and d3 if you manully shift , it does make a sputtering sound occasionly.

It has put your trans in limp mode. Check your fuses, you have an electrical problem for sure. Look underneath as see if your speed sensor wiring looks ok

i got everything working now except the speedometer. speed gauge want work at all now rpm works shifts correctly switched a different cluster panel still no go on speed gauge. we had to replace the Ignition switch it was in bad shape wires spliced and some not properly covered .

97 Tahoe still no speedometer. i have been reading up on it could be stepper motor in the cluster or the speed sensor or wiring down on tranny. my mech says he has power there but in my reading it says that the sensor can crash and will not allow the computer to pick up the signal and operate the speedometer
