I back the truck up then put it in 4wd low the it wood not go in any other gear what do I do

my 2008 suburban 4x4 5.3 is not shifting through 2nd and 3rd gear..it does go through if I release and give it time otherwise its reves up to 4000 rpm...why is that? 7 Answers

transmission problem I think...shifting through 2nd and 3rd gear...my engine reves up to 4000 to 5000 rpm when going through 2nd and 3rd gear...why is that?
