My c-230 sport sedan

My c-230 sport keeps getting stuck between drive and neutral.  When this happens I can't parallel park, I can't get the key out of the ignition, and I can't turn the car off, which will eventually drain battery.  What causes this to happen and how can I prevent it from happening in the future?

What do you mean by “get stuck” ? Did you check the selector rod under the car on the side of the transmission, maybe getting hung up on the insulation that surrounds the transmission tunnel.
