It could be the PCM (engine computer) causing the sensor heater codes. Replacing the PCM will fix it. However, it is possible that you have a blown fuse so be sure to check and replace any blown fuses in the under hood fuse box. If they are all ok, then replace the PCM.

150 ohms resistor is the solution for your trans problem....the temp sensor has a false reading, but oe trans temp sensor not aviable..

I had the same problem...temp light and squares around PRND. My transmission went into limp mode and I had to get it towed. Turned out to be a wire chafed through in the transmission wiring harness. I removed the front left tire, removed the wheel well plastic and found the harness was chafing where it penetrated the firewall. I unraveled the plastic mesh covering the wires and saw that a couple of wires were chafed and the yellow one was worn, all but completely separated. I spliced it back together and taped it up really well with electrical tape.....problem solved. Lights are off and the car runs like normal now. Totl time was approx 45-mins start to finish. Hope this helps somebody.

If there is no problem with all the components then do the resistor deal, but i recoment check and recheck all the trans system first so you can eliminate all probable causes... Like monkeyhands666

Guys, unfortunately after checking every fuse, relays connections, fuse box, replacing the TCM to having to put the old one in... the limp mode issues continued! It was a nightmare! Decided to sell it to a mechanic for $2000. He said, I will fix it and make a little $$$. Last I heard the car still has issues!!! This should have been a recall because it’s just a manufacture malfunction and huge frustration for us the owners. Cool car but won’t ever come close to buying that crap again! -recap... be honest... sell it as it and let them know it’s a transmission sensor issue that needs fixing... otherwise be ready to do as I did!!! Everything and still get the codes and limp mode!

I was on the freeway going 70 miles headed to my destination. On my way back heading home, my Transmission temperature warning light came one. I can also hear my car grinding like it was trying to go in gear. Can my transmission be going out?

I am also having the same issue. I have had this same issue for the past 4 years. I drive several hours at highway speeds. The Transmission Temperature light comes on. I can drive about 5 miles before the car goes into "limp mode". I was just informed I need to have the Radiator replaced along with 2 thermostats, and the Coolant Manifold seal. I have the Lifetime Warranty but because the service was not performed I will have to pay out-of-pocket for this = $1,575.00 + tax. REALLY. I agree this seems like an ongoing issue that A LOT of people are having.

I started having this issue with my 2008 Dodge Caliber sxt (Trans over heating) in 2014 when I took the car to the dealer for a tranny flush (just because, no reason) just trying to maintain the car. I've had the car since 2009 and never had this issue until then. I finally figured out, if Im on the highway (almost every day), I have to use the Cruse Control and can NOT go over 64mph, then it does not over heat. Its really frustrating and I keep looking for an answer from mechanics but they know nothing. I took it back to Dodge and they gave me some BS (cant remember what they said but I laughed) and gave me an estimate for $1500.00 This car has been very, very good to me, all over, up and down the east coast. The only other complaint, I've had to change the front end once, Ive changed the ball joints and tierods 4 times and they need to be done again. it is driving me nuts! I have made a complaint about these issues but never heard back. I have noticed sensors are going bad, I did just have to change the Speed Sensor, Im wondering if that is the issue. I also see people talking about the whining, mine has always had that whining, I almost didnt buy it because of that. I was told they all do that. My stepson said his friend had on and his did not do that, but I still never had an issue until the dealer flushed the tranny! I just found that receipt, which is why I was doing more research. It says they updated Transmission software from 68028456AA to 68028456AC, Updated PMC from 68027153AD to 68027153AF. Could this be my issue? Like why did you do that? I only asked for a flush! I would like to hear your comments Tammiesmithpa@gmailcom

Heat warning light came on mine . Did a reset with the OBD2 code reader . Worked for about 2 months . Now its back on again .Did read U0402 code TCM ..Did a hard reset with the gas pedal and ignition , works half way . Drives fine in gear till i put in reverse than the warning light comes on with check engine . Only comes on in reverse than limp mode . Time to replace the TCM , see what happens .
