When I put my jeep commander on drive the letter D turn into a number 4 why

D is your final drive & 4th high gear. When in D your trans shifts automatically 1 thru 4. When the gear selector is in 1, 2, or 3, it stays in that gear & does not shift automatically. Like for mud & snow, off-roading, hillclimb, or steep desent.

I have the same problem with my jeep I put it on the letter D and it change to 3rd shift I have to put it on park turn it. Off to work good again anybody

Im having the same problem do u guys know what is it i put it in d but goes to 3 and when i turn it of and turn it back on i goes to d again anybody know why
