Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 06 Jeep Commander.  My car sat for a few days with a flat tire.  I finally had
time to deal with it.  When I aired up the tire and turned the car on to get to a repair
shop my hazard lights came on.  I didn't turn them on.  I turned the car off and on a few
times.  Nothing.  Took it to shop and they couldn't figure out why.  We took out various
fuses under the hood and that did not fix the issue.  Needless to say the battery died.  It
was jumped and still the hazards are on.

No. they said it wasnt broke. After taking it to two mechanics i finally was gonna bite the bullet and take to dealer. They said there was a wire shorted out below the steering column. They fixed and didnt charge me. But I was wondering if it was a factory recall or something. Either way..its fixed.

Holy Shizaz----The same thing just happened to my 2006 Jeep Commander tonight. I took it to my friend who is a mechanic and he disembarked every fuse he could find and it still would not turn off. The on and off switch seems to be working just fine. So I ended up driving it home that way. I just disconnected the battery and will have to get it checked out tomorrow. Thanks for the hot tip on the short under the steering column. We both thought it could be electrical. I was thinking this could be a good method to interrogate terrorist . A few minutes of watching and listening to those flashers would make one sing like a canary---just saying---

I have a '15 grand Cherokee doing the same thing right now. I didn't turn em on either. All flashers blinking and do not time out, shut off, nothing. It's Sunday no shops open. Damn, I used to really like this car too. This is frustrating and my battery is under the front passenger seat, don't even want to go thrre.

My 2015 Jeep Cherokee suddenly had hard light on and nothing I did could turn them off. I never could find any exposed wiring under the steering column and called my neighbor. He was able to turn them of by quitting the hazard button on the dash. I was pushing it longer and harder but somehow a quick touch of the hazard button turned them off.
