how do i set the timing marks for a 1993 misubishi mighty max trk.2.4L

Did you ever find out how? I am trying to time a 91 2.4. I get all the marks lined up, install the belt, release the tension pulley, set tension, tighten pulley. Then when I turn over engine by hand, the marks are no longer in line. I have done this about 5 times, sure is getting aggriavating.
