2001 Volvo V70 - rattling when idle and no response when gas pedal is pressed.

Asked by VolvoWorries May 29, 2018 at 08:45 AM about the 2001 Volvo V70 2.4T

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Hello helpful people! I just got a coil replaced and all new plugs about two
weeks back. This past Friday (two weeks from repair date - may or may not be
relevant.) The car was rattling very heavily once I started it and it was in
neutral. When I shifted into drive it calmed down a bit however when I pressed
the gas pedal there was no response from the engine whatsoever. No rpm
increase or anything - any ideas?

Is your ETS light on, by chance? Or a check engine light? Your electronic throttle module is probably dead. It's a very common problem on '99-'01 Volvos with the Magneti Marelli throttle.
