I have a Saab & what my winter mode does is starts the car off in 2nd. gear and makes it shift sooner so the tires are less likely to spin on ice or snow. My dash has a light to show when winter mode is on. Its might be hard to notice a differance when its working. I don't know what you should lubebricate, sorry.
