fuel door doesn't release

Asked by brianmcd64 Apr 17, 2008 at 10:55 PM about the 2003 Volvo S80 T6

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Is there a manual release for the fuel door on a 2003 S80 T6?  When the release button is pressed, it sounds as though the mechanism is working properly, but the fuel door doesn't open.  Any suggestions would be helpful, my tank is nearly empty...I think I have just enough fuel to make it to the dealer!

May have to gently pry at the fuel door while depressing the button with help from another person.

I had this problem as well w/ my 2000 Volvo S80. The dealership attempted to tell me to get a new clicker for my car but I just broke the little lock on the door to the gas tank. Its located on the side-the door still shuts and its perfectly fine I just couldnt deal w/ standing at a gas station fighting w my car to open.
