Turbo compatibility

My friend has a 2000 Volvo S40 and sadly she let
someone try to "fix" her car while she was away.
Instead of fixing anything the guy stole her turbo.
Mind blowing, I know. Well, she ordered a new
turbo but when it arrived it's a VOLV40... She
doesnt think it will fit so I'm seeking knowledge on
its compatibility? Will she need to return this
supercharger it can it work?

Lookup the part for her car and compare it to the part number of what she has now. If they are the same you are good to go. Also see what model/year car the part she has now fits.

It should be a Mitsubishi TD04L-12T. That stamp should be on it. Then again, if it's from eBay, it likely isn't on there, but it's most likely compatible. Anything from a 2000-2004 (early 2004) S40 or V40 will fit.
