1992 Volvo turbo 4 cyl. gas. check engine light is on, can I diagnose without diagnostic tool? Engine keeps stalling occasionally but I am thinking fuel pump relay?

suppose to be normal when the engine is idling, dont sweat it my 940 turbo has ben doing that for years.
