Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Engine light has been on for almost three months. Mechanic first  put in an after market throttle sensor then replaced it with Hyundai part. Still on. Replaced the Mass flow sensor with an after market then replaced it with Hyundai part. Light is still on. they have hooked up three computers and a tablet to this car and nothing. The guy dong this is supposed to be a top gun in his field and he is stumped. Next wee he is going to clear out the mother board and reprogram it.

If the car is not giving you a code, then there's nothing you can do. Just throwing random parts into it will only run you up an enormous bill. If the reprogram doesn't work, you may have to trade it in. I think it will fail smog if the CEL is on. If you live in a state that requires it. Have you noticed any performance issues since the light came on?

You may want to just buy a new factory gas cap. I heard if bad, this can cause your check engine light to stay on. Hopefully it's something simple like that.
