Jetta rear left Creaking Under braking

Asked by Ag66_ Nov 29, 2018 at 10:37 AM about the 2006 Volkswagen Jetta 2.5L

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My Jetta has been creaking under braking, Seems to be coming from the rear
end left side.

The creaking is like a rusty door being opened and closed slowly. The sound
happens every wheel rotation and only at medium to low speeds.

My car also needs an alignment. Getting that done soon. Would that be the
issue? Or might it be the brakes/Wheel?

You're right, it's probably brakes or wheel bearing. With the wheel off the ground, check for looseness or grinding sound of a failed wheel bearing. Some of them are adjustable on VW. Next, examine the brakes for wear, rusty rotor/drum, and worn pads/rotor.
