Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a significant coolant leak that appears to be coming from the
backside of the engine. Vehicle is paid off runs well other than leak,
just want to find fix and cost before determining to try and fix or sell as
is.

I would take it to your mechanic and have him give you an estimate. I'm guessing it is something simple like a heater hose. They get old/dry from heat and they flex a lot as the engine torques around accelerating. Also remember these engines have a fabric timing belt that needs to be inspected or replaced each 100K miles. If it breaks, it will ruin this "interference engine". That belt service may cost $500-$1500. Stay away from VW dealers. I would fix and keep this car if not rusty.

Thanks, yes it is over 100k miles, it's not rusty but I have no space or need for it. Selling it for sure, after fixed for less than 1k or as is if fix cost more than 1k. Hoping for hose, gasket or other inexpensive repair. Thanks for help
