I'm having trouble trying to get my 2001 Jetta 1.8T Wolfsburg to start. When I attempt to start it ,it runs only a brief moment then dies. I've changed the fuel filter and I hear the fuel pump running

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

when I turn the key on. There's a yellow light with a car and key flashing on the dashboard. I'm thinking maybe there's a problem with the security system. It cranked it a moves it then the next day my battery was dead.. I tried to jump it then I had the problem as I explained in the beginning of my question. Any suggestions?

Your keys needed to be recoded, also check your car battery to see if it is dead.

Fully charge your battery leave your key on for ten to twenty minute with charger still running it should reprogram your car and key. The light will go out if this works. If it don't your chip in your key is either bad or it came from a different car or someone has changed the dash. The key and dash have to come from the same car because the transponder is in the dash gauges cluster for the key

The key transponder is in your instrument cluster. These have got to either bee from the same car or you need a new key and to get it reprogrammed by the dealer.
