IAT sensor location on '03 GTI Vr6

Asked by klassykz Dec 21, 2010 at 06:54 PM about the 2003 Volkswagen Golf GTI VR6 2-Door FWD

Question type: Car Customization

I have an '03 GTI Vr6 and I'm going to try installing a performance chip. Could I get
location of IAT sensor (possibly picture) and any info on performance chips and/or
personal experience of trying them yourself?

Thanks

itll be stuck into the intake pipe after the air filter. 2 wire sensor. usually stuffed into a rubber grommit or something. as for chips, sometimes they do more harm then good. be careful which one u choose and research carefully.

go to awetuning.com. Some of the best performance chips for vw/audi/porsche. I have the same car as you and their chip does wonders.

If you are thinking about an IAT swap I would n't really bother. It's more work than it's really worth. You might see 2-3hp out of it but it'll take you long enough to get it. If you are thinking about the chip AWE is an awesome place to go but I would stick with a shop that would be close to you. Just in case you have any questions about it. plus they will do the install for you in a couple minutes. Most shops have pre-soldiered ecus waiting around for people to buy. But if you are going to order then hell yeah, AWETuning.com has some awesome products and they will talk to you for hours if you have questions. Check out VWVortex.com and do some reading. Their MKIV forum is loaded and there is even a forum for the GTI.
