1997 VW Golf K2. I don't have the key to remove the roof racks. Any suggestions?

Go to the Vdub dealer and order a new set of keys. If you're lucky, there will be a key code on the lock. Anything from the VW dealer costs a pretty penny though... They wanted $235 for a new switchblade key for my Jetta.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I've looked, and there is no key code anywhere on the racks or locks. I just want to take them off my car for now, but I don't want to ruin the racks.

There may be a universal key that the VW dealer can sell you for the roof racks. Most of the time these things are available.
