radio wont work with out code I have all paper including radio manual, but the 6 didget code is not there and it don't say where. any ideas?..........Thanks....steve
The dealer can get it using the VIN, best to drive it there so you can provide proof of ownership as they just won't give it out over the phone.
thank you, sir
There is a little tool called a code or preset saver, it uses a 9 volt battery and it plugs into a active power port just before the battery is removed, it keeps the memory power on just enough to hold those settings like the clock, radio, main computer etc. if your a DIY guy it's must have for your tool box. They do make fancy ones that plug into the OBD port and use a auxiliary power supply for long electrical repairs and that is the one I have, it's really saved me a few trips to the dealerships for resetting codes and programming on later model vehicles. It's a good idea to write down the code some place safe. Most Volvo radios, for example, just have the code written on the top of the radio. Easy place to put it so you don't lose it.
