I really do not believe the transmission is trashed. no signs that it was going bad. if linkage is not broke is there a part in the trans that can be broke that that does not necessarily mean trans is "trashed."

It will mean a complete tear down to find all the damage.Which means it would be cheaper to buy a used transmission. So yes trashed.

Jack it up in the front and roll each wheel and see if either one binds or makes a crunching noise. It may have broken an axle but not the boot.
