how is shipping handled and paid for

You find and hire a shipping company, then you pay them for their services.

Some dealers have a little truck icon on their ads. Those will arrange shipping for you. But you still have to pay for it! Hope that helps! Jim

Thanks Jim. That was helpful. Not so much with F_O_R. I've never done this before. I assume the cost of transportation is always a cost assumed by the seller. I assume the cost of transportation is based upon the mileage of delivery. Does anyone have a range of transportation costs from regional to national. The cost of transportation may outweigh the relative value and margin on the vehicle

Your assumption that the seller pays is wrong. Get quotes. If you need real numbers ask a shipping company. You are right about one thing, the shipping cost would exceed any savings. Another thing is you really don't want an old Mercedes.

Shipping costs are always the responsibility of the buyer. You can get free shipping quotes from uship.com and other shipping companies. Ten years old I shipped a vehicle from Los Angeles to NJ and it cost me $1,200. It might be more cost effective to drive the vehicle home. You'll need to figure fuel costs, tolls, food, and hotel prices if you decide on doing that. Hope that helps! Jim
