2004 Mercedes c230 wont start after alternator change

I have a 2004 mercedes c230 1.8L that i changed the alternator on but now
when I go to start the car, it turns over once and then there is a buzzing
coming from the esp unit.  Any ideas would be helpful and appreciated

Ok.. I was told by someone to try and start it without the belt because he said the belt looked tight. I took the belt off and it started right up. All of the pulleys turned freely without the belt with the exception of the crankshaft pulley. Any ideas?
