Car keeps going off after sometime

I have a 1996 C220 and it keeps losing power and goes off
now and then when I'm driving and goes on after
sometime. Sometimes it wants to speed off when im on
traffic when on D so I always have to keep the foot on the
breaks and step on it extra hard.Changed the battery
checked the fuel pump but it still behaves the same way,
what to do???
