Question type: Maintenance & Repair

OK, so I was having this problem with my
tranny. 1st and 2nd shifted fine, then at
around 20-30 MPH(2000 rpms) the rpms
would drop to 600, go back up to 2k, back
down, back up, back down, back up, then
shift in to third. Eventually, it stopped, but
would no longer shift past 2nd gear. I took it
to a shop, they rebuilt it, but I'm still having
the problem. It does the same thing, but
does it 4 times now before shifting to 3rd.
The only code that's come up is for my 4WD
relay being bad, but it was doing it before I
had replaced the TCCM with the current one
that has the relay problem(old TCCM had a
broken/corroded pin that wouldn't allow
meinto 4WD). Any ideas as to what could
cause this so I can take it back to the shop
with some ideas?

Seems like a shift solenoid problem, these transmissions have electrical shift solenoids. There are 2. If solenoid A fails then you have no 1st or 4th gear. If B fails then you lose 2nd and 3rd. Sounds like B is going out. I had one where A failed and before i completly lost 1st and 4th if started with hard shifts, then would fluctuate back and forth from 1st to 2nd. See if solemoids were included in the trans rebuild

Yes, they replaced the solenoids saying both were fried when I bright it in. When I brought it in, it wouldn't shift into third, but first and second worked just fine and shifted in/out just fine. I'm bringing it back to them tomorrow, so hopefully they can figure it.

I figured it out. It was the TCCM. I disconnected the fuse and it started driving fine. The shop verified this asit kept trying to engage 4wd. Thanks for the suggestions though. They ultimately helped me find the problem.

when I drive my blazer. (2000) it will go to 20-25 and the rpm's will go to 5000 RPMs and won't shift till I get the mph down to 15, once I get it to 30 the rpm's will go up and press on the gas rpm's will go up than the RPMs go down and it's back in gear. I can't go over 40 mph, we had the column shifting cable replaced along with our 4x4 connector. I have to keep putting tranny fluid in. 1st and 2nd gar shifts fine but it won't shift to third or fourth
