1997 Dodge 2500 will start but will not move. I was accelerating and out of no where my rpms shot through the roof, but I no longer had any drive. Any ideas?

If it is a manual in the floor 4x4 you didn't happen to kick the transfer case in neutral did you?

1of 3 things will do this. - bad transmission - bad transfer case - bad rear end. To eliminate the rear end put it in gear and see if the driveshaft is turning. If not it's ok. The only way to eliminate the transfer is to pull it off and see if the tail shaft on the transmission is turning when put in gear.

I did check and the drive shaft is not spinning. Any possibility that the torque converter failed?

It's possible but usually they will not upshift from 1st or 2nd gear.
