Why does oil gauge show nothing in freezing weather, then good in warmer weather or warmer oil.

We had 20 degree weather, the oil pressure gauge did not respond on starting.  Ran fine, oil level good.  After running awhile, turned engine off and on again and pressure gauge showed normal pressure.

Are you running 10w30 or in the cold, below 20° there should be 5w30 weight oil, otherwise it may be the oil pressure sending unit may need to be replaced.
