Trying to charge the a c

The a c in my truck stopped blowing cold . at idle it
did nothing, if I idle it up just a little it still does not
blow cold and the and the pop off valve will blow
freon out of it .  replace the a c compressor ,pull a
vacuum for over 1 hr. Started to charge the system
the 1st can started in good but about halfway
through the can got hot and the hoses were so hot
I had to cover to them with a rag just to close them
what is causing this

For a ridiculous as it might sound, gotta ask some basic questions; are you sure you were adding refrig thru the low side port n not the hi side port? Do you have a proper set of a/c gauges?
