Motor swap

Asked by Guru8864W Jan 05, 2020 at 10:11 AM about the 2003 Dodge RAM 1500 Laramie RWD

Question type: General

I have a 03 Ram 1500 with the 4.7 magnum. I
bought a 04 jeep Cherokee with the 4.7 HO. I put
the 04 into the 03. It will not start. Was running
awsome before I pulled it. Does anyone got any
ideas what may be wrong?

The key would have to be programmed , there's a transponder in it that tells the computer to fire it up . Thing is the dealer would probably have to do it and it's a jeep motor in a dodge truck , I don't know how you managed to do that .

I had the same issue. Swapped my 4.7 with another 4.7. The tuner ring was a different pattern. Mine was a 16 tooth gear and the new one i went to was a 32 tooth gear it would turn over but never crank. Your computer is telling it wen to fire but your missing or have too many teeth. We had to take the motor back out and swap tuner rings. Problem solved
