Rubbing noise

Asked by Rich Dec 23, 2018 at 09:04 PM about the 2003 Dodge RAM 1500 SLT Quad Cab 4WD

Question type: General

I have a 2003 dodge ram quad cab.
When I disengaged the 4 wheel drive
after using it for the first time this
year, I noticed a rubbing noise in front
end, mostly at low speed.

Maybe the front axle lock is not disengaging which causes the axles to continue to rotate.

I was wondering if it wasn't disengaging. That's what it seems like. This might sound like a dumb question but is it possible for one side to disengage but not the other?

Check the actuator to see if it works. Also check the vacuum line that runs to it for leaks.

Thank you. I will check both. Merry Christmas
