Changed 'Crank Shaft Sensor' and it started !...The Sensor is found on the front top right side of the Transmission Bell housing..to change, you need something to lay on the right side of the engine, reaching with your broken fingers just behind the right head with a 1/2 " wrench, the Sensor is attached to an iron bracket attached to bell housing with 2 short 5/16" Standard bolts, found just above the sensor, that you can feel where wires are fed to sensor. Don't think it's something that a heavy mechanic, with big hands would want to attempt...

Sounds odd but works: Engine cranks, won't start; Turn key, clicking sound, won't start; My friend has a 2004 Ram 1500 4.7 L, I have a 2007 Ram 1500, 4.7 L We both had the same problems about 2 weeks apart. The trouble started after my friend had starting problems when he turned the ign. Key and had ni response. I tried jumping his battery off my 2007. Did no good. Then mine did the same thing! I would turn the key and just get a clicking sound from under the dash. I thought I fried the PCM or worse. Doing some research ran across a way to drain the computer modules to reset the modules. My battery was new. His had a full charge. Disconnected both the positive and negative cables. Then wrapped them in rubber so they could not make contact with the battery terminals. Then using good jumper wires we connect the positive and negative leads together making sure they would not come into contact with any battery anodes (+)or cathodes(=) and let then sit for a minimum of 30 minutes. Then we rehooked his cables and wires back to there respective battery terminals. His fired right up with no more trouble. Mine ran fine till the next day. I had a cracked negative terminal and put a new one on. Still worried I may have damaged my PCM ( or worse) I repeated the reset proceedure but let it sit overnight. The next morning We hooked the leads back up to my fully charged battery and tried the ign. Key. It strated right up and has run and started perfectly. It has been a month now with no further trouble. It took a few minutes for the computers to relearn their data, it seems, but it straightened out quickly. So try this before panicking and assuming its a fuel pump, stator, etc. You may be glad you did. Just drains all static charges out of computer mods. And resets them. Good luck. Rachael
