1997 dodge 1500

Asked by Tyler Dec 30, 2018 at 03:50 AM about the 1997 Dodge RAM 1500 LT RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

It won’t start. It acts like it’s not getting any
fuel. It will turn over and try. But won’t. Can I
bleed the gas line? Or do I have to drop the
tank and clean the filter?

Lots to chew on here. An engine needs air/fuel/spark n compression to start n run. Engine lite on/off???Some good news, yours doesn't have a "fuel filter". It's built into the pump ass'y. No maint req'd. If you don't have a fuel pressure gauge that you can manually check the fuel pressure (if no pressure at all/then "maybe" a fuel pump). Pour some gas down the throttle body n crank 'er up n see what happens. If no results, check your connection to the coil, distributor cap and check for spark at the plugs. If no spark, remove the coil n check for cracks in the insulation. If you have spark AND fuel...time to go to the crank position sensor. But, try these things in order n see what happens...cheep to expensive, easy to difficult.
