97 ram shifting issues

I have a 97 dodge ram 4x4 with the auto trans that
is having some shifting issues. It shifts smooth
and like it should most of the time but sometimes
it like gets stuck in 3rd and revs high and I have to
back off the gas to get it to shift smoothly into 4th.
It normally only does it the first time I drive it for
the day but does it everyonce in a while either way

add a bottle of the lucas transmission slip stop or whatever it's called it works great my 2500 diesel was doing the same thing and it fixed it sucks it might actually be 3rd gear going or something along those lines but the lucas is a cheap fix to start with run it drive it awhile let it get hot and work its way thru the teams and the. check your fluid to make sure the level isn't low aswell
