my truck will not crank over.

Asked by nden22 Nov 25, 2014 at 10:30 PM about the 1996 Dodge RAM 1500 LT RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 96 ram will not crank over when I manually turn the key. I have a bulldog remote
start I installed myself it worked manually with the key and with the remote start. Now it
only starts with the remote. All the wires to the remote unit are spliced directly behind
the ignition switch. I've already replaced the ignition switch and the neutral safety
switch. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I lean more towards the possibility of the remote starter causing a short on the ignition switch. Personally, I'd try disconnecting the remote switch from the back of the ignition switch and see if the ignition switch works like it's supposed to.
