My Dodge Ram 1500 is starting but is into into gear in reverse or drive

If it starts and cuts off within seconds that usually is a security circuit issue whether key or fuse etc. But could be fuel mixture. Sometimes reading the code will help. In order to do a reset the memory capacitors have to be discharged, either by touching disconnected battery cables for 20 seconds or turn on headlight switch for 10 -20 minutes while battery is disconnected.
