02' s10 THIRD GEAR START! KEY SWITCH ASSEMBLY??

Asked by Semprit1 May 25, 2023 at 05:59 PM about the 2002 Chevrolet S-10 LS Extended Cab RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 02 S10 that was sitting for close to 2 and half years, i took it to get
the transmission rebuilt because it was bad. But now im having the problem
that the truck starts off in third and wont change gears. ive heard its in limp
mode. the mechanic that rebuild the transmission said it is the key switch
assembly! But i dont want to just spend money on random parts and that
not be the issue. Any help? could he be right about the switch?
