This is a fairly common problem with these trucks and the Blazers of the same era. Check the vacuum hoses under the hood for damage and leaks. If they're ok I wouldn't go any further with it. The mode doors that Ed is talking about are plastic and they're known to break. The trouble is you have to remove the heater box under the dash to get to them. The trouble with that is the entire dash assembly has to come out!! At a shop it's a 10+ hour job that's not really worth the time and money in my opinion. If the heater core starts leaking later on you can address it then because it's the same deal to replace the heater core. Most people don't bother fixing them at this point. Hope that helps! Jim
