1999 chevy S-10 2.2L Engine wanted, rebuilt or used, What other motors could i use?

Looks like I need a new motor and these 2.2L 99 motors are hard to come by, Does
anyone know why? and can I use the 6cyl. from the same year ? The truck is in excellent
shape everything else is new so its worth fixing and im in a small town. Im not sure what
my best bet is.

I would research to see if you can mate up a 4.3 liter with your tranny. I have a 96 s10 with a 4.3 and it has over 200 thousand miles and still going strong. doesn't even use oil.

I have a 2.2 out of a 99 s10 for sale with 260xxx on it runs good
