Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So I have a 91 s10 standard cab long box with the
4.3L and 4wd I also have a 86-87 standard cab
long box 2wd with the 4.3L and I just swap
transmissions? If you guys could help that would
be great

The 4x4 trans has a different tail housing and output shaft than the 2wd one. In theory you could put the 2wd trans with driveshaft and crossmember in the 4x4. You'll no longer have 4x4 but it'll work. Same goes the other way around, put the trans and transfer case in the 2wd with the driveshaft and crossmember.

I am also confused how your 86-87 year truck has a 4.3. Those didn't hit the s-trucks until 88
