On a Dual battery system what would be the possible problems?

2005 f350 diesel 6.0 with negative
battery cables disconnected volt
meter negative lead on negative
battery post positive volt meter on
grounded bolt to firewall volt meter
reads 12.6 volts.   Switch meter leads
and reads .213 to .13. I suck at
electrical and broke. So gotta figure it
out no option for me to take to a shop
