Cause of shift problem
My 1999 F250 Super Duty power stroke has started to not want to shift on it's own. The shift indicator started showing N for R, then R became D, Then within a day or so, it stopped shifting on it's own. 1st to 2nd to 3rd. Reverse works fine and it drives fine, you just have to shift manually. This was very sudden one minuet it's fine. the next you have to do the shifting. Any Ideas?
Sounds a lot like a failing gear selector switch, when it go's bad th computer really doesn't know what gear has been selected so it goes to default, good thing the manual portion is still working so at least you can shift it manually but that won't last too long, best get it checked, replaced and adjusted properly before it leaves you walking.
Thank You, I have ordered the part. It arrives tomorrow. Thanks Again, for your help!
