I ran oil dry after a leaking oil filter spilled it all on the road for 2 minutes

So I changed my oil today and for whatever reason did not lube the gasket cap on the new oil filter before putting it on. Also, I cranked it an extra 1/4 turn with a oil filter wrench. Got in a hurry to meet friends of wife and did not test run the engine. Get to place fine. As soon as I crank up the engine to head home I hear slight knocking in the engine. Ran maybe 1/2 to 1 mile and knock worsened then my engine shut off. At this point I lost power steering and luckily happened to be in front of the auto parts store. I put 5 quarts + 1 quart of lucas in it after changing oil filter. (filter appeared fine but the gasket was a little loose). I then cranked it up and heard the knocking again for about 4 seconds before it went away. I drove home and everything appeared to be okay. Guy at the autoparts store said I was incredibly lucky. My question is do I continue to run 5-20 in the 4.6 V8 or do I now have to add lucas everychange or switch to heavier weight?

I believe it doesn't matter what you put in it. I would run lucas in it a every oil change. But you might need to replace the engine soon because running the cam and crank bearings dry of oil has put a lot of wear on them. you probably going to notice first that its going to start burning oil then its going to start tapping. after that it won't be long your going to have a rod start knocking.
