Gauge fluctuation when starting

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

When I start the engine all the guages peg to the left and vibrate and then finally go
to the right.  At the same time all electrical power is lost as if I disconnected the
battery.  No other problems it is just when starting it.

could be the cluster is going bad,but if everything works right after start up,I would not worrie about it,on some vwhicles this is normal.

Thank you for the response. The radio and time always need to be reset which shows it has no electric power at the time. I read that it could be the battery and its amp output is going bad. Any other ideas?
