5.4 3v triton cam phaser lockout

I have a 2005 Ford F-150 Xlt with a 5.4 3v triton
engine. It has the cam phaser issue. I heard of
locking out the cam phasers would be the way to
go. Is this true and if so how long would it last?

Once locked out the cam phaser issue is done. The condition of the rest of the engine will determine how long it lasts.

Will I have to get it tuned/programmed after locking out the cam phasers?

The kit should come with the needed programming.
