Will 1997 460 EFI (from an F450) fit into 2005 f150 supercab 4x4 with a 4.6 v8 ?

Asked by John Jun 05, 2017 at 04:38 PM about the 2005 Ford F-150 STX SuperCab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 460 EFI motor from a 1997 F450. Would that motor bolt up to the tranny in the 2005 f150 supercab 4x4 4.6 v8? If not, are there any trans that I can drop in with the 460 without having to completely change the rest of the drive train (i.e. 4wd).

Maybe the 460 could be retrofitted with a lot of work and money but you will never pass smog inspection and it would not work with your automatic transmission. You would also ruin the value of your truck.

Thanks. What about into a 1995 F250 with a 5.8L motor? Will it match that trans?

You need a Triton 3V engine to be legal. Something from 2004 to 2006 or so.
