the belt broke from something, say an air compressor froze up , burns the belt and breaks it, still froze, new belt is held back from letting it spin,, is that possible?
When you say "it will not turn over" do you mean the engine will not spin when the key is turned? If the engine spins then check and make sure the belt, when it broke" did not damage any other wires in the engine compartment.
Will not spin over.just clunk, if u try to hold starter will burn.we have checked all pulleys nothing stuck,thought maybe hydrolock,but sparkplugs were dry...
Remove the belt from the vehicle completely. Then try to start the car and see if the engine cranks freely. If not, have the starter checked after checking the battery.
Took plugs out there was some water present.tried to crank.clunk.took belt off turned by hand.multi times.cranked truck it blew out all water.belt was off when i blew out water.put sparkplugs on put the belt back on and clunk...took belt off and it cranked??? No assessories are locked up.
If you have cylinders filled with water then the engine is blown. Remember, water does not compress. If the cylinders got more water in them then the engine will not turn over, because it can't.
It runs without the belt runs just like it always has sounds good. Put the belt on nothing.clunk.so if it runs without belt motor cant be blown???? Starter maybe????
The only way water can get into the engine is via the cooling system. No belt on the vehicle means the water pump is not working. The water got in there somehow. I suggest you check the water pump. Could the impeller shaft be frozen. Something is placing a load on the engine via the belt not turning is my best bet.

The compressor is held on with bolts. There is also an electrical connection plus a refrigerant high and low side connection, usually on the back side. You have to drain the system properly, relieving pressure, then remove the fittings.
I had the same problem with my Dad truck ,twice.the Engine would lock up.After a while found A.C Compressor locking up. When roller bearing would spin in one direction they would cause the engine to stall! Usually it gave a problem from starting ,after the truck set a while overnite!replaced compressor,all good!
P.S. you can just replace the Compressor pulley assembly if your inclined.#8 metric socket & lock ring plyers
