Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a slow leak of coolant in my 2001 F150. My mechanic said it is between the aluminum and the plastic between the reservoir and the radiator. He said I have to replace the whole radiator system and quoted $500 to $600. Is he right? Is there another fix?

A pic would tell us what part you are talking about. You could also get a price on that part yourself, at any parts store. Radiator replacement costs run 300 to 500 in my neck of the woods for a light duty truck. His price doesn't seem unreasonable, given all the unknowns we don't know about.
