Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I routinely clean the battery terminals on my 2001 ford f150 4x4 5.4 with no problems. Cleaned them today and won't start......turns over fine. Was starting fine before I cleaned terminals???

Make sure the small black ground wire to the battery is not broken or corroded. This is the pcm ground.

No,the small ground wire attached to the terminal. There is a connector in it to that can corrode.

I checked the terminal wiring and it looks fine. There is no signs of corrosion or broken wire(s)

Does this have PATS (passive antitheft system)?

Then that system is ok. We need to go back to basics and see what it is not doing. You need to see if it is not getting fire or not getting fuel.

checked all fuses that deal with fuel distribution, all ok. As I said I clean the battery 2x per year without any issues what so ever.......it does seem like it's fuel related!? I am the original owner, strange

You need to see if the spark plugs are firing and use a fuel pressure gauge to check pressure with key on.

Thank you for all your tips. Got the truck started next morning after mechanic from ford dealer called and told me to hold gas pedal down for a few seconds before putting key in........started right up????
