2001 F150 4.6l triton V8

Asked by Cordy Dec 12, 2020 at 11:05 PM about the 2001 Ford F-150 Lariat Crew Cab SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, all 8 injectors
and my F150 will not start. The fuel rail pressure is
within specs. The engine will turn over, but is seems
to drain the battery quickly. It's a new battery. I know
the fuel pump comes on for about 2 seconds before
starting. I am unsure about while cranking. I also
replace 2 of the original coil packs. One of them fell
apart when I removed it, i.e the spring fell out and the
insulation boot fell off. Will a spark tester work with
coil packs? What else should I check? Feeling
frustrated...

Also, it is an extended cab not a crew cab. Don't think that matters, but I am trying to be accurate

You can pull a coil and put a spark plug in it. Ground the plug and look for a spark when you turn the engine over.

I found 3 issues, 1st issue was original coil packs were trashed, 2nd issue was spark plugs were trashed, 3rd issue was alternator pully was froze causing the sluggish turn over. Replaced all parts and truck started. Just some FYI, the truck had been sitting for almost 10 years.
