F150 won't start

Driving the truck starts losing power then stops and won't start again.

Warm engine, cold engine? makes no difference? no check engine light (CEL)? this seems like it must be the devlish EGR, which recirculates exhaust gas into the intake for pollution purposes, is stuck and forces the engine to try n' run off the exhaust fumes...perhaps the devices that tell this egr device to turn off or on ARE working, just the valve is clobbered up with carbon....this is one possibility....otherwise we'd be getting a RED check engine light.
